Fiber
Optic Comm. was established in 1995. The company was founded
by a core team from ITRI and was the first in Taiwan to develop
a proprietary process for fused biconical tapered (FBT) couplers
and WDMs. The Companys core technologies are Planar
lightware circuit (PLC), thin film filter, micro-optics, fused
biconical tapered and interconnects. Fiber Optic Comm. merged
with MRV Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRVC) in 2000, expanding
MRVs product offering and thus establishing MRV as a
world-class leader in optical network components and systems.
WatchGuard
Technologies, Inc.

Inc.)
RapidStream
was founded in March 1998 by three networking veterans from
3Com and Cisco and joined by a team of topnotch design engineers.
RapidStream has developed core ASIC technology, named Rapid
Core that overcomes major obstacles with todays VPN
and firewall product implementations. Using the Rapid Core
ASIC, RapidStream plans to offer a policy-based engine,
including a full complement of VPN, firewall, and integrated
system. RapidStreams development efforts have already
produced seven patents pending for its policy acceleration
hardware and software. The Company was acquired by WatchGuard,
a public company in Internet security industry, in 2002.
New
Elite Technologies, Inc.
NETI
was founded in 1996 as an OEM/ODM supplier of active components
and subsystems for optical communication industry. Currently,
NETI employs more than 130 people and are located in the Science-based
Industrial Park in Hsinchu, Taiwan. NETI received Outstanding
Photonics Award of Taiwan in both 1998 and 2000 for accomplishments
in the innovation, development of technologies and products.
Today, NETI designs and manufactures a broad range of fiber
optic products including high speed digital transceivers and
transponders, DWDM and Single channel EDFA for telecom and
for CATV, 1310 / 1550nm linear optical transmitters, and optical
receivers. ITIC had exited the investment of NETI with good
return right before the optical communication industry correction
in 2001.
