United Microelectronics Corp.

UMC was founded in 1980. It was the first major spin-off from ITRI and has since been credited for pioneering the semiconductor industry of Taiwan. It has achieved a 40% annual rate of growth for the first decade of its operation, and has extended a network of sales to North America, Europe, Japan and Southeast Asia. UMC went public in 1985 and has maintained its position as the leading IC manufacturer in Taiwan. Today, the Company is the second largest IC foundry in the world and is also listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the trading symbol of UMC.

Taiwan Mask Corp. (TMC)

TMC was founded in 1988 as a spin-off company from ITRI. ITIC assumed the key lead investor role in the formation of TMC. Since its inception, TMC has experienced high rate of growth and has been the primary provider of mask service to Taiwan’s IC fabs. At present, TMC is advancing its technology to deep sub-micron applications. TMC went public in 1995. It was selected by Forbes magazine as one of the 100 best foreign small companies in its November 3rd, 1997 issue. Today, TMC is the largest industry player in Asia except Japan.

Analog Technology Corp

Founded in 1996, Analog Technology is one of the few semiconductor companies that fabricate both digital and analog IC devices. The Company manufactures a variety of products, including DC-Fan driver Ics, EEPROM ICs, CD-ROM driver ICs, DC-DC converter ICs, nonvolatile Memory ICs, etc. Analog Technology has both design and manufacturing capabilities. The Company targets its market at PC, monitor, communications and PCMCIA card. Analog Technology is one of the major analog IC suppliers for Taiwan’s PC industry. The Company went public in 2000, the Yulon Group acquired a controlling stake in 2001 and formally changed its name to Antek Semiconductor Corp. in 2002.

Chipbond Technology, Inc.
Chipbond was founded in 1997 by a group of semiconductor industry veterans and was spun-off from ITRI. The Company was the early pioneer in Taiwan to provide wafer bumping services, primarily in gold bumping and solder bumping services. Chipbond also provides TCP (tape carrier packaging) and COG (chip on glass) turnkey solutions. The Company went public in 2001 and is currently the 2nd largest gold bumping service provider.

Gallant Precision Machining Ltd.
(Original Investment: Kingbond Semiconductor, Inc.)
Kingbond was founded in 1997 with technical joint venture between ITRI (means of technology transfer) and Toshiba Corp. and became Taiwan’s first company specialized in IC packaging front-end equipment manufacturer. Products include wafer taping, wafer detaping, wafer mount, die bonding, die pack & place, etc. Based on similar product lines and business model, Kingbond was merged with Gallant Precision Machining, Ltd. (Listed on Taiex) in the 2nd half of 2002. Today, it is one of the leading IC packaging manufacturer in Taiwan.

Precision Silicon Corp.
Precision Silicon was founded in 1998 in Hsin-Chu, Taiwan. The Company is one of the leaders in providing silicon epitaxial wafers and epitaxial services. The Company went public in December, 2002 and currently has offices in Tokyo, Japan and Hsin-Chu Taiwan.

Ardentec Corp.
Established in late 1999 by ITRI veterans and industry experts, Ardentec provides wafer test services to fabless semiconductor companies, integrated device manufacturers, and independent wafer foundries. As one of the major players in the market, the Company went public in early 2005.
